Sistem komputasi kuantum terintegrasi ini ditempatkan dalam kubus kaca [[Hampa udara|kedap udara]] berukuran 2,7 x 2,7 x 2,7 meter yang mempertahankan lingkungan fisik yang terkendali. Komputer kuantum ini diuji untuk pertama kalinya pada musim panas 2018, selama dua minggu, di [[Milan]], [[Italia]].<br />

IBM Q System One dikembangkan oleh [[IBM Research]], dengan bantuan dari Map Project Office dan Universal Design Studio. [[CERN]], [[ExxonMobil]], [[Fermilab]], [[Argonne National Laboratory]], dan [[Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory]] merupakan beberapa pelanggan IBM yang telah mendaftar untuk mengakses sistem komputer kuantum tersebut dari jarak jauh.<br />
