Argumen '''Ruangan Tionghoa''' adalah [[percobaan pikiran]] yang diajukan oleh [[John Searle]] untuk menentang gagasan bahwa komputer dapat memiliki "budi" dan "kesadaran" layaknya manusia. Searle mengajak pembaca untuk "membayangkan bahwa saya terkunci di sebuah ruangan dan ... saya tidak bisa [[bahasa Tionghoa]], baik tertulis maupun lisan." Ia mengasumsikan bahwa ia punya serangkaian peraturan dalam [[bahasa Inggris]] yang "memampukan saya untuk mengaitkan serangkaian simbol resmi dengan rangkaian simbol resmi lain" (karakter Tionghoa). Peraturan tersebut memampukannya untuk menanggapi pertanyaan dalam bahasa Tionghoa sehingga orang yang mengajukan pertanyaan tersebut yakin bahwa Searle dapat memahami bahasa Tionghoa juga, meskipun ia sebenarnya tidak. Dari sini, Searle menekankan bahwa jika ada program komputer yang dapat melakukan perbincangan dalam bahasa Tionghoa, komputer tersebut juga sebenarnya tidak memahami perbincangan tersebut.

Argumen ini pertama kali muncul di artikel Searle yang berjudul "Minds, Brains, and Programs", yang diterbitkan di ''[[Behavioral and Brain Sciences]]'' pada tahun 1980.
