Raman merupakan guru besar fisika di [[Universitas Calcutta]] selama 15 [[tahun]] berikutnya. Di sinilah pekerjaannya pada [[optik]] mendapat pengakuan.

Raman memenangkan [[Hadiah Nobel Fisika]] [[1930]] untuk pekerjaannya pada penyebaran cahaya dan untuk penemuan [[efek Raman]].
