Ruterfordium (104Rf) adalah sebuah unsur buatan, sehingga berat atom standarnya tidak dapat diberikan. Seperti semua unsur buatan, ia tidak memiliki satu pun isotop stabil. Isotop pertama ruterfordium yang disintesis adalah 259Rf pada tahun 1966 dan 257Rf pada tahun 1969. Ada 16 radioisotop yang diketahui, mulai dari 253Rf hingga 270Rf (3 di antaranya, 266Rf, 268Rf, dan 270Rf belum dikonfirmasi) dan 4 isomer. Isotop yang berumur paling panjang adalah 267Rf dengan waktu paruh 2,5 jam, dan isomer yang berumur paling panjang adalah 261mRf dengan waktu paruh 81 detik.
