Buku herbal

Buku herbal adalah sebuah buku yang berisi nama dan deskripsi tumbuhan, biasanya dengan informasi tentang manfaat pengobatan, tonik, kuliner, racun, halusinasi, aromatik, atau kekuatan sihir mereka, dan legenda yang diasosiasikan dengan mereka. Buku herbal juga dapat mengklasifikasikan tumbuhan yang dideskripsikan, memberikan resep untuk sari herbal, tingtur atau ramuan sihir, dan terkadang meliputi mineral dan bahan hewani selain bahan-bahan yang didapatkan dari tumbuhan. Buku herbal seringkali diilustrasikan untuk membantu identifikasi tumbuhan.

Buku herbal adalah salah satu sastra pertama yang dihasilkan di Mesir Kuno, Tiongkok, India, dan Eropa sebagai nasihat pengobatan pada masa itu yang diberikan oleh herbalis, apoteker dan dokter. Buku herbal juga merupakan salah satu buku pertama yang dicetak di Tiongkok dan Eropa.
