Isotop barium
Barium (56Ba) yang terbentuk secara alami adalah campuran dari enam isotop stabil dan satu isotop primordial radioaktif berumur panjang, 130Ba, teridentifikasi sebagai tidak stabil dengan cara geokimia (dari analisis keberadaan anaknya, 130Xe, dalam batuan) pada tahun 2001.[1] Nuklida ini meluruh melalui penangkapan elektron ganda (menyerap dua elektron dan memancarkan dua neutrino), dengan waktu paruh (0,5–2,7) tahun (sekitar 1011 kali usia alam semesta).
Ada total tiga puluh tiga radioisotop yang diketahui selain 130Ba. Yang berumur paling panjang adalah 133Ba, yang memiliki waktu paruh 10,51 tahun. Semua radioisotop lain memiliki waktu paruh lebih pendek dari dua minggu. Isomer yang berumur paling panjang adalah 133mBa, yang memiliki waktu paruh 38,9 jam. 137mBa yang berumur lebih pendek (waktu paruh 2,55 menit) muncul sebagai produk peluruhan dari produk fisi umum 137Cs.
114Ba diprediksi mengalami peluruhan gugus, memancarkan inti 12C untuk menghasilkan 102Sn. Namun, peluruhan ini belum teramati; batas atas pada rasio percabangan peluruhan tersebut adalah 0,0034%.
